AI: the 10 hottest stocks of July 2026

Ten artificial-intelligence names, screened for momentum, chart position and base, with the genuine small/mid caps up top. For each one: a mini chart, a short explainer, the AI niche and the real analyst price targets with sources.

Theme of the month
From LLM data to robotaxis: AI broadens out beyond the chips

The AI rally has spread from chips alone to the whole stack: training data, voice, robotics, autonomous driving, data centers and GPU cloud. That is where the small and mid caps below are moving, with wide swings and stretched valuations.

00How this list was built

Same logic as the defense list: this is not a “stocks to buy” list, but a snapshot of the ten AI names most in motion in early July 2026. We look at momentum, chart position and base. Each card shows the AI niche (data, voice, robotics, infrastructure, healthcare) so the list can be scanned at a glance.

A note on size. The AI rally has inflated many market caps: several “hot” names (SYM, APLD, TEM, CRDO, NBIS) are now large caps, no longer small/mid. We kept them where momentum and coverage dominate, but put the genuine small/mid caps first (INOD, SOUN, SERV, PONY, WRD) and flag the market cap on every card.

The price targets are real: opinions of professional analysts reported with firm and date, not recommendations from Merlintrader. Sources at the end. Prices and market caps are indicative as of early July 2026 and should be re-checked live. Two names are Chinese ADRs (PONY, WRD): older coverage and specific regulatory risks.

01The ten at a glance

Prices and market caps indicative as of early July 2026. “Avg target” = analyst consensus; “Upside” = the arithmetic gap between the average target and the price, not a forecast.

Innodata is one of the few genuine small/mid caps on the list: it supplies data and annotation to train big tech’s large language models (LLMs), the invisible fuel of AI. Growth is strong (FY2026 revenue estimated up more than 40% year over year) and analysts raised targets in June. On the chart the stock is volatile, off a $125 peak: a wide base (52-week range $34-$125), with momentum driven by upward revisions.

Analyst targets: BWS Financial (Hamed Khorsand) — Buy, $140 (from $110, Jun 15, 2026); Craig-Hallum (George Sutton) — Buy, $120 (from $80, Jun 16, 2026); Wedbush (Daniel Ives) — Buy, $120 (from $100, Jun 4, 2026). Consensus: Strong Buy across 4 analysts, average target $122.75 (range $111-$140).

SoundHound AI is the pure-play on voice AI and conversational agents, with automotive and restaurant applications. Revenue is growing fast (FY2026 estimate up more than 37%), but the stock trades about 70% below its 52-week high ($5.8-$22.2): a low base, with less explosive momentum than others. Note: the analyst targets are as of May, so a little less fresh.

Analyst targets: Cantor Fitzgerald (Thomas Blakey) — Buy, $15 (May 8, 2026); H.C. Wainwright (Scott Buck) — Buy, $20 (Mar 2, 2026); D.A. Davidson (Gil Luria) — Buy, $12 (May 8, 2026). Consensus: Strong Buy across 8 analysts, average target $14.00 (range $8-$20).

Serve Robotics is the smallest and most speculative of the robotics names: autonomous last-mile delivery robots, with an Uber Eats partnership and Nvidia ties. Revenue growth is enormous in percentage terms but off a tiny base, and the company burns a lot of cash. It has the highest theoretical upside in the top 10 (average target more than double the price), but is also among the riskiest.

Analyst targets: Northland (Michael Latimore) — Buy, $26 (Jun 3, 2026); Oppenheimer (Colin Rusch) — Buy, $20 (May 8, 2026). Note: Freedom Capital (Dmitriy Pozdnyakov) — downgrade to Hold, $18 (May 13, 2026). Consensus: Strong Buy across 8 analysts, average target $18.45 (range $13-$26).

Pony AI is one of the pure-plays on commercial robotaxis, with autonomous fleets in China and expansion ambitions. Expected revenue growth is strong (double- and triple-digit estimates in coming years) and coverage is broad (18 analysts, Strong Buy consensus). To be clear: it is a Chinese ADR, so it carries regulatory and delisting risk, and some specific targets date back to early 2026.

Analyst targets: HSBC (Yuqian Ding) — Strong Buy, $17 (Mar 31, 2026); Citigroup (Jeff Chung) — Strong Buy, $25 (Nov 2025); Macquarie (Eugene Hsiao) — Buy, $29 (Dec 2025). Consensus: Strong Buy across 18 analysts, average target $20.91 (range ~$10-$33).

WeRide is the other Chinese pure-play on autonomous driving: robobuses and robotaxis, with a push into international markets (including the Middle East and Europe). Broad coverage and a Strong Buy consensus, with targets implying a double from the current price. Like PONY, it is a Chinese ADR: same regulatory/delisting risks, and some targets date to February-May 2026.

Analyst targets: BofA (Ming-Hsun Lee) — Buy, $12 (May 14, 2026); Macquarie (Eugene Hsiao) — Buy, $18 (Feb 10, 2026); Citi (Jeff Chung) — Buy, $15 (Feb 6, 2026). Consensus: Strong Buy across 13 analysts, average target $14.27 (range $11-$20).

Applied Digital builds and operates data centers for AI and HPC at scale, riding the demand for compute. Revenue growth is enormous (FY2026 estimate almost +200%) and analysts raised targets in June. Mind the size: at ~$13 billion it is no longer a small/mid cap. Still a high-volatility stock, typical of the AI-infra names.

Analyst targets: Northland (Michael Grondahl) — Buy, $82 (from $56, Jun 17, 2026); Lake Street (Robert Brown) — Buy, $90 (from $70, Jun 9, 2026); Needham (John Todaro) — Buy, $83 (from $66, Jun 9, 2026). Consensus: Strong Buy across 11 analysts, average target $73.36 (range $40-$106).

Tempus AI applies artificial intelligence to diagnostics and precision oncology, with a large clinical-data asset. It is one of the most-followed AI-healthcare stories, but the stock has already run: the average target is only slightly above the price and the analyst spread is very wide ($35-$100), with some cautious views. Market cap now around $10 billion.

Analyst targets: Canaccord Genuity (Kyle Mikson) — Buy, $80 (Jun 2, 2026); TD Cowen (Daniel Brennan) — Buy, $68 (Jun 1, 2026). Note: Stifel (Daniel Arias) — Hold, $60 (Jun 1, 2026). Consensus: Buy across 17 analysts, average target $66.53 (range $35-$100).

Symbotic is a leader in AI robotics for logistics and warehouse automation, with a very large anchor customer (Walmart/GreenBox). Revenue growth is solid (FY2026 estimate around +24%) and coverage is broad. Again, size matters: at ~$25 billion it is now a large cap. Well-liked by analysts, but with at least one notable bearish view.

Analyst targets: Citi (Andrew Kaplowitz) — Buy, $70 (Jun 3, 2026); TD Cowen (Joseph Giordano) — Buy, $75 (May 11, 2026). Bearish note: Goldman Sachs (Mark Delaney) — Sell, $45 (May 26, 2026). Consensus: Buy across 19 analysts, average target $65.67 (range $44-$84).

Credo provides high-speed connectivity for AI data centers, in particular the active electrical cables (AECs) that link GPU racks: a critical bottleneck in AI infrastructure. Expected growth is very strong (FY2027 estimate over +80%) and analysts sharply raised targets in June. Now a large cap (~$40 billion): the upside to the average target is smaller, the story is high quality but the stock has already run.

Analyst targets: Stifel (Tore Svanberg) — Buy, $350 (from $250, Jun 22, 2026); BofA (Vivek Arya) — Buy, $340 (from $252, Jun 23, 2026); Evercore ISI (Mark Lipacis) — Buy, $325 (initiation, Jun 22, 2026). Consensus: Strong Buy across 19 analysts, average target $269.81 (range $184-$350).

Nebius is one of the “neoclouds” specialized in renting out GPU capacity for AI, one of the fastest-growing segments of the whole market (FY2026 revenue estimate over +500%). The stock is extremely volatile (down 17% in a single session in late June) and is now a large cap around $50 billion. The target spread is enormous ($120-$380): a Buy consensus, but with a cautious view in the mix.

Analyst targets: Goldman Sachs (Alexander Duval) — Buy, $286 (from $267, Jun 30, 2026); Citi (Tyler Radke) — Buy, $287 (Jun 10, 2026). Cautious note: Morgan Stanley (Josh Baer) — Hold, $144 (Jun 10, 2026). Consensus: Buy across 16 analysts, average target $244.07 (range $120-$380).

The bonus is the most speculative of all: Veritone is a micro cap (a penny stock below $2) offering applied-AI software for media, voice and enterprises. The theoretical upside is huge, but the target spread is extreme — from a UBS Hold at $2.50 up to a $10 Needham target — which tells you everything about the risk level. To be treated as a bet, not a cornerstone.

Analyst targets: Needham (Joshua Reilly) — Buy, $10 (May 12, 2026); H.C. Wainwright (Scott Buck) — Buy, $9 (Mar 30, 2026). Risk note: UBS (Kevin McVeigh) — Hold, $2.50 (cut from $6, Jun 1, 2026). Consensus: Buy across 4 analysts, average target $7.38 (range $2.50-$10).

12Risks common to these names

AI names share specific risks. Valuations are often high and price in a lot of future growth: if results disappoint, pullbacks are fast and deep. Many of these companies are still loss-making and burning cash, with possible capital raises (dilution). The AI theme sees strong rotation: money moves quickly from one sub-sector to another. The two Chinese ADRs (PONY, WRD) add regulatory and delisting risk and less recent analyst coverage. Finally, some average targets are now near or below the price (TEM, CRDO, NBIS): the market has already run past estimates.

Bottom line: in AI, upside and risk are tightly linked. Analyst targets are a reference, not a guarantee, and can change quickly after earnings, contracts or capital raises.
