2026 year-end cash outlook and the next commercial evidence

On July 29, 2026 Amarin forecast positive full-year cash flow and a year-end cash position approximately 10% above December 2025. The test is cash supported by viable U.S. prices, partner royalties and disciplined costs. The disclosed work with Barclays could create a separate strategic development, but an adviser appointment supplies neither a transaction nor a completion date. CASH QUALITY AND PRICE PRESSURE
A large cash balance still needs durable product economics

At June 30, 2026 unrestricted liquidity was $314.649 million, with positive first-half operating cash flow. Receivable and inventory reductions contributed substantially to that cash generation. U.S. net prices and product gross margin weakened, while supply commitments, litigation and cash compensation remain relevant uses of funds. The balance provides flexibility; it does not establish recurring profitability. Source Source

Amarin reported further ESC analyses involving lipoprotein(a), treatment persistence and coagulation, alongside laboratory work on EPA. The serial lipoprotein(a) analysis covered 5,036 participants. These findings expand understanding of an established product; they are not a new pivotal outcome trial, a new approval or a quantified commercial contract. Source

The constructive case

The constructive case would strengthen if Amarin maintained U.S. demand, improved the economics of each prescription and converted international partner growth into recurring cash. The starting point is substantial: unrestricted cash and short-term investments were $314.649 million on June 30, 2026, and operations generated $12.992 million during the first half. The July 29 outlook called for positive full-year cash flow and a year-end cash position approximately 10% above the end of 2025. Those are a reported balance and a management forecast, respectively. Source Source

The case against

The adverse scenario would develop if payer pressure and generic substitution outweighed volume gains, while partner growth failed to cover the remaining fixed costs. A cash balance can decline despite a successful drug if the company receives less revenue per prescription, incurs litigation expenses or has to purchase inventory faster than it sells it. The June 2026 accounts include firm purchase commitments of approximately $42.8 million and additional conditional commitments, so the entire liquidity balance is not surplus capital. Source

The post-hoc findings suggest a possible persistent benefit, but do not prove that stopping treatment causes protection or replace the original randomized result. Source

July 29, 2026 — Cash outlook retained after restructuring

Second-quarter revenue was $42.211 million and June unrestricted liquidity was $314.649 million. Management said the restructuring was completed and forecast positive 2026 cash flow. The company also disclosed work with Barclays on additional pathways to shareholder value. The operating outlook and the strategic process remain separate from an announced transaction. June 4, 2026 — Supreme Court reverses the Federal Circuit

The Court held that Amarin’s pleaded allegations did not adequately establish active inducement by Hikma, reversed the lower appellate judgment and remanded. This is a completed legal event, not a pending Supreme Court catalyst. The judgment should be incorporated into the commercial competition assessment without describing it as a withdrawal of VASCEPA’s approval. Source

01 Scenarios: the cash test behind the cardiovascular franchise

Bull case — the partner model could turn scientific value into durable cash

The constructive case would strengthen if Amarin maintained U.S. demand, improved the economics of each prescription and converted international partner growth into recurring cash. The starting point is substantial: unrestricted cash and short-term investments were $314.649 million on June 30, 2026, and operations generated $12.992 million during the first half. The July 29 outlook called for positive full-year cash flow and a year-end cash position approximately 10% above the end of 2025. Those are a reported balance and a management forecast, respectively. Source Source

Under this scenario, a smaller operating base would allow royalties and supply profits to contribute more meaningfully as partners expand access. REDUCE-IT provides established clinical evidence; the August 2026 analyses could reinforce physician interest and appropriate treatment persistence. A commercial benefit would still have to appear in prescriptions, realized prices and collections. The research itself does not create reimbursement or protect branded prices against generic competition. Source Source Source

The optional strategic element would become tangible only if the work with Barclays produced a disclosed transaction with attractive economic terms. Management described the adviser relationship on July 29, 2026. An adviser appointment supports the existence of a process, but cannot support an assumed buyer, premium or completion date. The operating case needs to make sense without a takeover. Source

Base case — cash could remain resilient while the revenue mix changes

The central scenario would be continued transition: U.S. business under price pressure, partner markets developing at different speeds and expenses below the old commercial footprint. Second-quarter 2026 revenue was $42.211 million, down from $72.741 million a year earlier. The comparison includes a $25 million Recordati upfront payment in the earlier period, so the headline decline overstates the deterioration in recurring activity. Nevertheless, U.S. product revenue also fell, and product gross margin weakened. Source

Cash could hold up even without immediate accounting profitability because the business is collecting receivables, reducing inventory and spending less. That would give management flexibility, while leaving the quality of recurring earnings unsettled. The distinction matters: cash released from an existing asset is valuable, but a shrinking stock of receivables or inventory cannot be harvested indefinitely. Later results need to demonstrate that the revised business can finance itself after the initial working-capital release. Source

Bear case — lower prices and cash obligations could erode the apparent cushion

The adverse scenario would develop if payer pressure and generic substitution outweighed volume gains, while partner growth failed to cover the remaining fixed costs. A cash balance can decline despite a successful drug if the company receives less revenue per prescription, incurs litigation expenses or has to purchase inventory faster than it sells it. The June 2026 accounts include firm purchase commitments of approximately $42.8 million and additional conditional commitments, so the entire liquidity balance is not surplus capital. Source

The June 4, 2026 Supreme Court decision also removes an outdated version of the optimistic case: Amarin is not awaiting that ruling as a prospective legal catalyst. The Court rejected the sufficiency of the pleaded inducement claim, reversed the Federal Circuit and remanded. The commercial thesis must accommodate the decision already delivered. A weak cash result combined with additional price erosion would be more consequential than another favorable analysis of an established clinical dataset. Source Source

What Would Falsify This Reading

The constructive interpretation depends on a leaner company converting an established clinical franchise into sustainable cash. The following evidence would strengthen or weaken that reading.

  • Cash generation persists after working capital normalizes. Recurring operating inflows with sound gross profit would support the model. Dependence on repeatedly shrinking receivables or inventory, followed by weaker liquidity, would undermine it. First-half 2026 operating cash generation of $12.992 million is historical evidence, not a guaranteed future run rate. Source
  • Partner growth reaches Amarin’s economics. Repeat product purchases and royalty growth with manageable supply costs would support international expansion. Strong partner demand accompanied by weak consolidated margins or excessive inventory commitments would weaken the inference that growth creates shareholder value. Source Source
  • U.S. share gains retain economic value. Sustained demand with better realized prices and product margins would strengthen the case. More prescriptions with persistently lower net revenue per unit would challenge it. The second-quarter 2026 product margin was approximately 30%, so price and mix matter alongside volume. Source Source
  • Strategic possibilities become disclosed terms. An announced agreement with clear consideration, conditions and a timetable would make the strategic option concrete. Adviser language alone does not validate an assumed premium. Continued absence of a transaction would leave the operating and capital-allocation case responsible for the investment thesis. Source

These are observations that would weaken the interpretation, not forecasts of inevitable events.

02 What Amarin sells and where the economics accrue

Amarin’s franchise is prescription icosapent ethyl, sold as VASCEPA or VAZKEPA depending on the market. It is a purified EPA-based medicine with evidence for cardiovascular risk reduction in an indicated high-risk population receiving statin therapy. Its value proposition concerns clinical outcomes, not simply a laboratory reduction in triglycerides. The product has approved uses and an established commercial business; Amarin is therefore evaluated primarily on execution and cash conversion rather than on an undosed development asset. Source Source

The July 29, 2026 update describes a direct U.S. approach and an international model built around seven commercial partners. Amarin supplies finished product, while partners provide local commercial infrastructure and market access. This changes the relationship between patient demand and reported revenue: a partner’s prescription or in-market sale is not automatically an equal amount of revenue at Amarin. Supply payments, royalties and milestones each follow their own contractual economics. Source Source

Recordati is the most important example of the transformation. The June 2025 agreement covers 59 countries, with a focus on Europe. Amarin received a $25 million upfront payment, while as much as $150 million of future commercial milestones remains conditional on performance. The agreement also includes royalties and product supply. The maximum milestone figure is not a receivable or a scheduled cash inflow, and territorial rights do not imply that all covered markets have launched. Source

This model can reduce the cost of building a direct sales organization in each country, but the trade-off is sharing more of the product economics. A leaner company may generate better cash from a smaller reported revenue base. Equally, strong partner demand can coexist with weak consolidated margins if transfer economics, manufacturing costs or price concessions absorb the benefit. The appropriate question is how much incremental demand reaches Amarin’s gross profit and cash, after the relevant costs. Source Source

03 The second quarter: separate the difficult comparison from real pressure

For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Amarin reported $39.077 million of product revenue and $3.134 million of licensing and royalty revenue, producing total revenue of $42.211 million. The prior-year total of $72.741 million included the Recordati upfront payment. Treating the entire 42% decline as a collapse in prescription demand would misread the comparison; treating the entire decline as accounting noise would also be wrong. Source

U.S. product revenue fell to $32.244 million in the second quarter of 2026 from $36.502 million a year earlier. Amarin attributed pressure to lower net selling prices and customer mix. European product revenue was $5.445 million versus $6.572 million, while the rest of the world contributed $1.388 million versus $3.543 million. Timing of partner purchases and the changed European model complicate interpretation, but the U.S. price issue is economically real. Source

The July 29 release reported approximately 48% U.S. market share in the second quarter, compared with 43% a year earlier. A stronger volume position is helpful, but a company can win share while receiving less per unit. For the trader, the important pairing is volume with realized revenue, followed by product margin. A share gain purchased through worsening economics does not have the same value as a gain that expands collected gross profit. Source Source

Cost of goods sold was $27.222 million in the second quarter of 2026. Against total revenue, that leaves $14.989 million of gross profit and a calculated total gross margin of about 35.5%. Management’s product gross margin was approximately 30%, down from 52% a year earlier. These are different denominators: royalty and licensing revenue affects the total margin, whereas the product measure isolates product sales. Using them interchangeably would obscure the pressure in the core supply business. Source Source

Second-quarter 2026 operating expenses were $26.999 million, leaving a $12.010 million operating loss and a $7.650 million net loss. The company reported $0.790 million of adjusted net income after exclusions that included litigation charges and stock compensation. The adjusted result describes a different cost perimeter; it does not turn the GAAP loss into a profit. The more convincing improvement would be cash generation accompanied by stronger recurring margins, rather than an increasingly favorable list of adjustments. Source Source

04 Liquidity and the monthly cash measure

At June 30, 2026, cash and equivalents were $143.558 million and short-term investments were $171.091 million. Together, unrestricted liquidity was $314.649 million. Restricted cash of $0.201 million is separate. The comparable unrestricted total at December 31, 2025 was $302.589 million, so the six-month increase was a calculated $12.060 million. These are balance-sheet dates, not an estimate of cash remaining in October. Source

Operations generated $12.992 million in the first half of 2026. Dividing that figure by six produces a historical average monthly operating inflow of approximately $2.165 million. Calling that number a monthly burn would reverse its meaning. Nor does a positive denominator support a finite cash-exhaustion date: there is no useful mechanical runway calculation obtained by dividing cash by a consumption rate that the period did not have. Source

The quality of the inflow deserves attention. First-half 2026 cash benefited from a $33.915 million reduction in accounts receivable and a $31.837 million reduction in inventory. Accounts payable and other current liabilities absorbed $30.264 million. Those working-capital movements explain why cash generation can coexist with an $18.162 million first-half net loss. They are real cash movements, but they do not establish that recurring operating earnings have reached equilibrium. Source

At June 30, receivables were $92.917 million and inventory was $164.073 million. Collecting past sales and selling existing stock can support liquidity during a transition. Once those balances normalize, the business needs recurring gross profit sufficient to pay its remaining costs. Later cash-flow statements should therefore be read alongside receivable collections, inventory purchases and payables, rather than judged solely by the change in the cash total. Source

Management’s July 29, 2026 forecast was positive full-year cash flow and year-end liquidity approximately 10% above the end of 2025. That is the next meaningful financial condition: the smaller operating model must deliver the forecast without relying on a one-time transaction being assumed in advance. The balance sheet provides time and negotiating capacity, but capital allocation determines how much of that flexibility remains available to shareholders. Source

05 Obligations, inventory and the costs after restructuring

The June 30, 2026 quarterly report says Amarin had no indebtedness. This materially reduces conventional refinancing pressure and avoids a near-term debt-maturity thesis. It does not eliminate contractual cash needs. Operating lease liabilities totaled $7.175 million, including current and longer-term amounts, while supply commitments and litigation create different claims on resources. A debt-free balance sheet and a cost-free future are not equivalent. Source

Firm future purchase obligations were approximately $42.8 million at June 30, 2026. Additional commitments of approximately $96 million depended on supplier approval. Their conditional nature matters: they are not an immediate payable, but they remain relevant to future cash requirements. The Laxdale agreement also included a conditional £5 million payment tied to specified future approval circumstances. Commercial and regulatory progress can therefore trigger expenditure as well as opportunity. Source

Inventory remains an important operating asset. At June 30, 2026 it comprised $115.762 million of raw materials, $8.366 million of work in process and $39.945 million of finished goods. It does not count as cash at book value. Country-specific manufacturing approvals, product dating, demand and the timing of conversion into finished doses affect how much cash the stock can ultimately produce. Amarin expensed approximately $1.7 million for product dating during the first half of 2026. Source

The July 29 announcement said the restructuring was completed, with an intended annual saving of approximately $70 million. That supports a leaner expense structure, but it does not mean every related payment had already occurred. The June accounts retained a restructuring liability of $2.587 million. The recurring test is whether the reduced organization preserves access and execution while lowering spending, rather than merely shifting costs between reporting periods. Source Source

A further cash trade-off comes from shareholder decisions on equity compensation. The May 13, 2026 annual meeting rejected the proposed additional share reserve and renewal of certain issuance powers. The company subsequently said its ability to provide incentive equity grants was highly limited and that most or all future annual incentive compensation was expected to be cash. Less potential equity issuance can therefore increase the claim on cash; it is not a free improvement on both dimensions. Source

06 REDUCE-IT: the established clinical result

The original REDUCE-IT publication, first published in November 2018, enrolled 8,179 patients. The primary cardiovascular event measure occurred in 17.2% of the icosapent ethyl group and 22.0% of the placebo group: hazard ratio 0.75, 95% confidence interval 0.68–0.83, p<0.001. This is the established result underlying the franchise. The percentages describe events over the study follow-up, not an annual revenue opportunity or a promise of benefit for every individual. Source

Safety also belongs in the commercial assessment. In that original publication, hospitalization for atrial fibrillation or flutter occurred in 3.1% versus 2.1%, with p=0.004. Serious bleeding occurred in 2.7% versus 2.1%, with p=0.06. The approved product information contains relevant warnings, and prescribing requires patient-specific clinical judgment. A strong aggregate efficacy result does not erase adverse-event considerations or justify extending use beyond the relevant indication. Source Source

For an equity reader, the distinction between scientific value and shareholder value is crucial. A medicine may reduce events and still face price competition, reimbursement restrictions and substitution. New analyses can support clinical discussion and appropriate adoption, but they do not independently establish branded exclusivity. The value of the evidence reaches the company through the commercial rights and cash economics of the markets where it operates. Source Source

Amarin’s recent scientific communications should therefore be classified by what they actually add. A new analysis of an existing dataset is different from a new randomized outcome trial, and a laboratory observation is different from a clinical event reduction. Maintaining those distinctions makes the news easier to price: it separates reinforcement of an established franchise from a genuinely new regulatory or commercial turning point. Source Source

07 What the August 2026 analyses do and do not show

On August 28, 2026, Amarin presented an exploratory post-hoc adherence and legacy analysis. Among 6,921 participants who remained on study medication for at least 1.5 years, the reported relative risk reduction was approximately 29–30%. This selected group differs from the original intention-to-treat population. The larger percentage is not a new randomized finding that replaces the original 25% relative reduction. Source

A separate secondary-prevention analysis included 1,318 participants who discontinued study medication after a mean of 2.3 years. The company reported a hazard ratio of 0.73 over the full follow-up and a similar ratio for events after discontinuation. It described a possible legacy effect, with uncertainty inherent in the exploratory analysis. Participants were not newly randomized to stop treatment; the finding does not establish that stopping therapy causes an enduring benefit or that stopping is clinically advisable. Source

The August 31, 2026 release broadened the scientific update with analyses of lipoprotein(a), treatment persistence, coagulation biomarkers and EPA-related laboratory effects. For example, the serial lipoprotein(a) analysis covered 5,036 participants from the original trial population. These results investigate risk and possible explanations for treatment effects. They are not an additional pivotal cardiovascular outcome result, nor do laboratory changes themselves quantify incremental prescription revenue. Source

The actionable interpretation is that the company continues to support the clinical rationale for its product while partners work on access and adoption. The evidence may help the commercial conversation, but the next financial report must show whether that conversation is translating into useful economics. Headlines about persistence of benefit do not translate into a fixed sales forecast, a new label approval or a guaranteed change in reimbursement. Source Source Source

08 International expansion and the partner conversion test

The July 29, 2026 business update reported that international partner in-market demand grew 59% in the second quarter from a year earlier. Europe grew 69%, while the company described China demand as up 90% for the year to date. The periods and measures differ. These are encouraging commercial indicators, but they are partner demand statistics rather than Amarin’s consolidated revenue growth rates. Source

For Recordati specifically, the June 2026 accounts reported approximately $5.4 million of quarterly product sales and $1.4 million of royalty revenue. Both feed the consolidated accounts; the royalty is already included in reported total revenue. Over time, a productive partnership would show repeat purchasing and royalties alongside manageable manufacturing commitments. A launch announcement alone does not reveal the durability of those cash streams. Source

International markets also develop at different speeds. Approval, reimbursement, local distribution and actual prescribing are distinct steps. Management identified Singapore and South Korea as near-term commercialization opportunities in the July 29 update, but that wording does not specify a hard launch date. The relevant catalyst is a concrete access or launch development followed by demand, rather than an invented day on a calendar. Source

The partnership model changes which operating questions matter most. Instead of measuring only Amarin’s own sales-force scale, the investor should assess partner incentives, product availability, net economics and the persistence of physician demand. Growth becomes more credible when it broadens the recurring royalty and supply contribution without requiring disproportionate inventory investment or rebuilding the expense base that the restructuring removed. Source Source

09 The Hikma decision and the remaining legal costs

On June 4, 2026, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Hikma’s favor on the sufficiency of Amarin’s induced-infringement pleading. It reversed the Federal Circuit and remanded for further proceedings. The key distinction concerned active encouragement of infringement: the statements alleged by Amarin were insufficient to state the required claim. This ruling has already occurred and is not an upcoming binary event. Source

The commercial implication is narrower than saying that all patents or the medicine’s approval disappeared. The decision does not repeal VASCEPA’s approved indication. It does mean the business cannot be valued as though a favorable Supreme Court outcome is still waiting to restore a protected U.S. franchise. Generic pressure and payer economics remain central to understanding the reported revenue and margin trends. Source Source

Separate antitrust matters also affect cash. The June 2026 report describes the purchaser-class settlement reached in April and paid in the second quarter, while claims involving generic producers continued. Litigation charges were $6.3 million in the second quarter and $9.4 million for the first half, with a remaining $6.3 million provision at June 30. An adjusted earnings calculation that excludes such charges is useful for one purpose, but shareholders still need the cash consequences. Source

For later announcements, distinguish a procedural step, a settlement, a cash payment and an actual change in commercial rights. They can have very different economic effects. Treating every court headline as either the end of generic competition or the end of the business exaggerates what the underlying decision establishes and distracts from the recurring operating evidence. Source Source

10 Ordinary shares, ADSs and the real dilution channels

One Nasdaq ADS has represented twenty ordinary shares since April 11, 2025. The June 2026 quarterly report lists 422,456,685 ordinary shares outstanding on July 24, 2026. Dividing by twenty gives a calculated equivalent of approximately 21.123 million ADSs across that ordinary-share base. This conversion is for consistent analysis; it is not a claim that every ordinary share is held through the depositary. Mixing ordinary shares with the ADS price would overstate equity value dramatically. Source

At June 30, 2026, issued ordinary shares were 436,242,879 and treasury shares were 16,198,857, leaving 420,044,022 outstanding. The distinction between issued and outstanding matters for per-share calculations. Treasury shares are not a second source of cash, and a share-price comparison needs the same ADS ratio throughout. The ratio change itself did not eliminate the company’s ordinary-share capital. Source

The 2020 incentive plan had 30,765,660 ordinary shares underlying outstanding options and 9,691,440 underlying restricted stock units at June 30, 2026. These correspond to approximately 1.538 million and 0.485 million ADS-equivalent units, respectively, calculated using the stated ratio. They are potential or conditional interests, not all immediately issued shares. Exercise prices, vesting and forfeiture influence their eventual effect on the shareholder base. Source

The balance sheet describes authorized ordinary capital as unlimited, but practical issuance authority requires a separate reading. At the May 13, 2026 meeting, shareholders rejected the proposed renewal of general issuance authority, the pre-emption waiver and an additional 15 million ordinary shares for the incentive plan. These failed proposals are neither an approved new reserve nor an automatic annual increase. The company’s stated response was an expected greater reliance on cash compensation. Source Source

Amarin also had a $50 million repurchase authorization whose permitted window extends into the second quarter of 2029. The July 29, 2026 report said it had not commenced. Authorization is optional capacity, not a completed reduction in the denominator. The relevant future evidence would be disclosed repurchases and their effect on outstanding capital, weighed against operating and strategic uses of liquidity. Source

11 Sarissa, insider transactions and the short-interest snapshot

Sarissa’s August 27, 2026 ownership amendment reported 25,743,900 ordinary shares, or approximately 6.09% of the July 24 outstanding base. The accompanying transaction schedule records sales totaling a calculated 386,305 ADSs on August 24–25, at reported prices between $14.00 and $14.08. These were sales, rather than a fresh accumulation signal. The remaining stake still matters for governance, but neither ownership nor a reduction reveals the outcome of the strategic process. Source Source

The CFO’s August 3, 2026 Form 4 describes a different type of event. Peter Fishman received 313 ADSs through vesting on August 1, with 155 withheld for tax obligations. The filing explicitly says the withholding was not a market sale. Calling it discretionary selling would be wrong; calling the vesting an open-market purchase would also be wrong. Transaction type is more useful than a red or green label attached to a change in reported holdings. Source

Finviz data as of October 2, 2026 show approximately 21.12 million float, 20.01% institutional ownership, 2.49% short float and a short ratio of 7.91. These are third-party figures; the short-interest settlement date is not stated. They are not a complete ownership register and do not map mechanically to every beneficial-ownership filing, which can use different dates and definitions. Source

The verified Nasdaq closing reference is $12.72 per ADS on October 1, 2026. A relatively modest short percentage does not guarantee smooth execution around news, while the short ratio is a historical liquidity relationship rather than a forecast of covering demand. For this name, the more consequential positioning questions concern the available trading base, large-holder decisions and whether a new disclosure changes the cash or strategic thesis. Source Source

12 What to watch and the bottom line

The next financial checkpoint is evidence that the July 29, 2026 full-year cash outlook remains achievable. Read the cash balance together with operating cash flow, collections, inventory movement and any exceptional receipts or payments. A stable balance accompanied by deteriorating recurring economics would be weaker than stable cash supported by gross profit. The year-end objective is a company forecast for 2026, not an announced earnings-release appointment. Source Source

For U.S. operations, watch whether prescription strength is retained without continued erosion of realized revenue and margin. For the international model, distinguish partner demand from Amarin’s product and royalty receipts. The two businesses face different economics, so a global growth headline needs a bridge to consolidated gross profit. Continued expense discipline matters, but repeated reductions cannot indefinitely substitute for sustainable revenue quality. Source Source

The principal red flags would be a weakening cash outlook, heavier dependence on working-capital liquidation, further product-margin deterioration or costly commitments that consume the balance-sheet flexibility. Another would be reading strategic-adviser language as evidence of a transaction that has not been announced. Clinical reinforcement is valuable to the franchise, but it does not settle any of those operating questions. Source Source Source

The bottom line is a commercial cardiovascular franchise with substantial reported liquidity and positive historical operating cash flow, but a difficult U.S. pricing environment and a changing international revenue model. The stronger case would require the leaner organization to convert established science and partner access into recurring cash. The weaker case would show the cash cushion masking declining economics. Both remain conditional interpretations to test against later disclosures, rather than price targets or instructions to trade. Source Source

Frequently asked questions about $AMRN

Is Amarin burning approximately $2.2 million each month?

No. First-half 2026 operations generated $12.992 million. Dividing by six gives a calculated average inflow of approximately $2.165 million a month. A historical positive flow is not monthly burn and cannot support a mechanical exhaustion date. Receivable collections and inventory reductions helped produce the inflow, so later cash quality remains important. Source

Are the June cash balance and the 2026 outlook the same figure?

No. Cash plus short-term investments were $314.649 million at June 30, 2026, excluding restricted cash. The July 29 forecast called for positive full-year cash flow and a year-end cash position approximately 10% above December 2025. One is a reported balance and the other a conditional management outlook. Source Source

Did the August legacy analysis prove that patients should stop treatment?

No. The August 28, 2026 result is an exploratory post-hoc analysis, not a randomized test of stopping therapy. The 1,318-person secondary-prevention subgroup and reported hazard ratio of 0.73 suggest a possible persistent effect after discontinuation. They do not establish that stopping causes benefit, replace individual medical judgment or supersede the approved prescribing information. Source

Is the Supreme Court outcome still an upcoming catalyst?

No. The Court decided the Hikma case on June 4, 2026, reversing the Federal Circuit and remanding after finding the pleaded inducement allegations insufficient. The decision is already part of the competition picture. It does not itself revoke VASCEPA’s approval, and separate legal matters must be assessed on their own facts. Source Source

Does Amarin have 422 million Nasdaq ADSs outstanding?

No. The July 24, 2026 count is 422,456,685 ordinary shares. Each ADS represents twenty ordinary shares, producing a calculated equivalent of about 21.123 million ADSs across the ordinary-share base. The conversion is distinct from the actual number held through the depositary. The October 1 reference price of $12.72 is per ADS. Source Source

Did the CFO’s August filing show discretionary selling?

No. The August 3, 2026 Form 4 reports 313 ADSs received through vesting on August 1 and 155 withheld for tax. It explicitly distinguishes the withholding from a market sale. Sarissa’s separate August 24–25 transactions were actual sales, as shown in its ownership amendment and transaction schedule. The two events should not receive the same label. Source Source Source

Biotechnology and healthcare companies carry binary risk. Clinical trials fail, regulatory decisions go against the applicant, approval does not guarantee commercial uptake, and development-stage companies frequently raise equity at whatever price the market will bear. A single readout can change the value of the business overnight in either direction, and companies at this stage can lose all of their value.
