Where Incyte stands now
Incyte’s October 29 results raised full-year net-sales guidance to $5.21–5.30B. Quarterly Jakafi sales were $827M and Opzelura $255M. The GAAP loss includes the Vega IPR&D charge; it should not be confused with an equivalent quarter of recurring cash consumption. Third-quarter results
A funded pipeline still has to replace future patent exposure with durable commercial returns. Clinical failure, regulatory review, product access, acquisition economics and the timing of replacement revenue can weaken the post-Jakafi case. One-time accounting effects must be separated from recurring sales and operating costs.
The constructive case
Incyte combines an established Jakafi franchise with growing dermatology and oncology products. Q3 revenue was $1.557 billion, up 14%, with a GAAP net loss of $784.8 million that includes a one-time $1.23 billion IPR&D expense related to Vega; Opzelura net sales were $255 million, up 36%. In Q2, revenue had been $1.674 billion with $585.6 million of GAAP net income, and removing Opzelura’s $246 million non-cash benefit left approximately $204 million of quarterly Opzelura sales, up 24% year on year. Successful launches and clinical readouts could diversify the business before Jakafi’s expected 2028 loss of exclusivity.
The cautious case
Jakafi generated $827 million of Q3 sales ($816.7 million in Q2) and remains the principal franchise. New products must replace a large revenue base, while the $1.25 billion Vega acquisition consumes resources ahead of later clinical milestones. The Opzelura accounting benefit is not recurring demand, and a profitable quarter does not settle the patent-cliff or pipeline risks.

INCY Jakafi and the diversification test
Jakafi remains the largest commercial product and its expected 2028 U.S. exclusivity loss frames the diversification challenge. Opzelura growth, hematology and oncology launches, pipeline readouts and acquisitions provide different routes to replacement revenue. Their timing, costs and probability of success cannot be treated as interchangeable.
Incyte earnings: operating growth and the Vega accounting charge
September-quarter total revenue was $1.56B and net sales $1.32B. The $784.8M GAAP net loss includes a one-time $1.23B IPR&D charge associated with Vega. Cash and marketable securities of $3.9B follow the July cash closing; acquisition accounting, commercial sales and cash movement answer different questions.

4.25out of 5
Assessed October 4, 2026; financial inputs through October 29. Weighted calculation: 4.5×30% + 4.0×30% + 4.5×20% + 4.5×10% + 3.5×10% = 4.25. This describes financial and operational robustness over twelve to eighteen months, not an investment recommendation.
Red flags
- Jakafi exclusivity loss is a future commercial exposure.
- A large acquired IPR&D charge is not recurring quarterly cash burn.
- Guided readouts and potential launches are not completed approvals.
